Rescue Me ID: 16-12-01-00174Polly (female)

Boston Terrier    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED HOME FOR A SPECIAL NEEDS DEAF GIRL. (bully breed and deaf dog experience only please) Polly's story: Polly was initially listed for sale for $900 as a 'rare breed' 'Olde Bulldogge' (listed with no name) Polly is CLEARLY NOT an Olde Bulldogge. A month later she was listed as 'Must go' Make offer' We did. And drove to Long Beach to pay and pick her up. As you can see she is 100% pure bred Boston Terrier. She's chocolate/mahogany. She is 19 lbs. She is between 8 and 9 months old as the girl could not get her story straight. Polly is also bi-eyed, which makes her 100% DEAF. Like all deaf dogs she is super alert, very ... (Read More)vigilant and hyper-aware of her surroundings. Of course except for when she's sleeping. Where she should always be woken up gently as not to startle her. Polly was in a home with two unaltered male Pit Bulls that fought often (including when we went to pick her up) Her owner did absolutely nothing to break them up while her three year old daughter just stood there in the front yard a few feet from the fight. Horrible dog owner. Even worse mother. Polly was crated often we guess for her safety ? We don't know. But it is her safe haven and she relaxes and goes to sleep as soon as she's put in it. Two things we know for sure. One of the Pits got to her at some point by the battle scars on her forehead. And because you can not verbally correct her they hit her on or about the head, making her hand shy and her eyes shutter when you approach her from above. With all that. Polly still loves body rubs, face petting, her head pet once you're already petting her. She is wonderful with people and kids. But she will not go to another home with young children that can startle her. She's already been attacked by a much larger dog. And tormented by a toddler. She has come around so fast in our mellow environment. So we are looking for the same for her. Polly is now spayed, vaccinated, current on rabies, and microchipped. She will come with her crate for her safety and comfort. But she is a true couch potato. And it really isn't needed. Polly goes nuts for toys and tennis balls. And will drop them for you with hand signals. She will snap at the other dogs when she has a toy or ball. So toy play time is limited. She is learning to trust, be around, and play with other dogs. She listens very well meaning once you have her attention. She will come and follow you, and your hand signals. Tap on the sofa and she will jump up. Palm facing her she will stop or drop her toy. An Einstein collar or vibration collar would work wonders with her. She is fully housebroken but she is crated at night for her own safety. Once adopted. She can be your bed buddy at night and I think she would prefer that over her crate that can be left open with a bed in it if she so chooses to use it. She loves the shower. And goes nuts when you towel dry her. In some ways she listens better then a dog that hears because she is so aware of her person and her surroundings. But there is always danger factors like cars or larger dogs they you can't recall her from. I'm certain Polly was either trained, played with or teased with a laser pointer. And when she gets fixated on the floor and spins. We just gently touch her as a pattern interrupt and she is doing this less and less frequently as time goes by. Polly is wonderful with cats and does not bother with them at all. Like any stub-nosed bully breed I place. You you must have bully, Bulldog, Boston, Pug, or Frenchie experience. We prefer a home with other pets to continue her socialization. Older dog savvy kids preferred. Polly loves to play. But she is calmer then your average Boston. She is the sweetest girl. She will bury herself behind you sofa cushions or bed pillows to go to sleep. She is truly loving her new found freedom. She is sleeping on my lap as I write this and if I could keep her I would. But she deserves a home where she's the center of attention. Besides how nutty and unique Bostons already are. Polly actually thinks she can chace and catch airplanes so a leash is a must with her. She will only be placed locally in case there are any issues with her. Inquires can be sent to smashfacerescue911@yahoo.com Please tell us a little about yourself, work schedule, activity level, kids and or other pets in the house, etc.... Polly can absolutely be placed in a home with other pets (of like size and breed) as well as kids. Thank you all. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-11-23-00326Holly is well behaved (female)

Boston Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Holly is a lovely purebred Boston Terrier girl looking for a new home. We rescued her from a high kill shelter before she was going to be euthanized. Holly is house trained, well behaved, loving and sweet. She gets along well with other dogs, and everyone she meets. Holly had a rough start life, and deserves a wonderful new home. She is blind in one eye, but gets around just fine. She loves to run and play in the yard. When we rescued Holly, she had several mammary tumors, which we had removed. They were benign, so she won't have any additional issues from that. We had Holly spayed, fully vaccinated including rabies, and microchipped. Holly ... (Read More)is about 8 yrs old, and weighs about 17 lbs. She is a very loving and devoted dog, without being clingy or needy. She's past the destructive phase, and doesn't dig, chew or bark excessively. Holly will be a great addition to a Boston lover's home. If you'd like to meet her, please complete our adoption application found on dexterfoundation.com We're only adopting out to the Southern California area. Adoption donation $275 (Less)
