Rescue Me ID: 18-01-18-00152Dax (male)

Boston Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello there, A few weeks ago I was going to run errands, when I noticed an old man and his dog sitting outside of the store entrance. I made a comment on how cute his dog was. Then the man and I got to talking and he let me know that he was trying to find a home for the dog, because he just found out that the he had cancer and has no family to care for his loved dog. He said that this was his last resort before he'd have to take him to the shelter. I agreed to take in the little dog in order to find him a forever home. The man cried and they said goodbye. It was the saddest thing I've ever seen. I have had sweet little Dax for about two ... (Read More)weeks now, I wanted to give him some time to adjust before I started looking for his new home and get to know him a little better so I can find the perfect home. He is about one year old, seems to be a Boston Terrier and maybe a Chihuahua mix. He is extremely sweet, gets along great with other dogs (I'm not sure about cats, but I couldn't see them being a problem at all), loves cars rides, wonderful with children and walks very well on a leash. You must be consistent with taking him out on a schedule to use the potty or otherwise he will use the bathroom in the house if not taken out. He is UTD on rabies shots, he is microchipped and he is neutered. I just got his nails clipped also. He loves to sleep in the bed with you and is the perfect lap dog, who would also make a great hiking companion. He also loves to play fetch!! His adoption fee is $100. We will not adopt him out to just anyone! So please include in your FIRST email a bit about yourself and the home you can provide for him. We will ask for vet references and a home check is possible. Thank you so much and I look forward to talking with you. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-15-00051Jake (male)

Boston Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jake was pulled from Animal Control in May 2017 after being confined there for almost 2 months. He was turned in with a companion dog after the owner unexpectedly was out of their lives. His fluffy friend was adopted but no one wanted Jake. He was in danger of euthanasia so we brought him to our shelter where he will be safe until the right home is found. (Jake was pulled on the same day as Jackson, a bigger boy who also sports bi-colored eyes) Jake is a gentle boy who craves love and cuddles and would happily creep into a lap and stay if allowed. He is a medium sized boy with an amber eye and an ice blue eye. Jake is of medium size and is ... (Read More)believed to be a Boston Terrier with big ears that sometimes point up but can also go east and west. Jake was an indoor dog and was housebroken before he began the many months of shelter confinement. His adoption fee is $100. Application online is at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application/ . Adoption of all dogs/cats requires an approval process to ensure that they are going into a home appropriate for their needs and that will keep them safe. Each is loved and nurtured by our staff and volunteers during their stay with us and each is placed with same due diligence that they would be given if they were our own furry family members. The approval process can take from 1 to 3 days. That process is initiated with the online (or in office) submission of the application form. Adoption policies, application procedures and the online application forms are at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. All approved adopters must accompany their new family member on the journey home. We do not ship nor transport. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter which provides quality care, spay/neuter-all vaccines, deworming, vet exam, standard disease testing and for dogs-monthly heart worm prevention treatment. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4. Boston Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

This little girl is Harriet. This poor girl was abandoned at a kill shelter while very pregnant. Thankfully, she was rescued along with all her puppies and has amazing foster parents who are teaching her to be a loved and pampered girl. Harriet is believed to be between 12-18 months old. She loves to cuddle and, at only 25 pounds, is the perfect sized snuggle buddy. Harriet has a naturally bobbed tail, so we know she is a small terrier mix in the same family as Jack Russell, Boston, and Parson Russell terriers. She is current on shots and will be spayed and microchipped as soon as her pups are weaned and prior to adoption. Harriet and her ... (Read More)pups (listed separately) are available for adoption.
