I am looking for help for 2 female dogs I have come to know. I received a call last week from my sister who said she had a friend reach out to her about the living conditions of 2 dogs staying in the house she was familiar with. The owner had abandoned these ladies and the people left there had just been served eviction notice and were not interested in bringing them with them. These people are active drug users and were comfortable with putting dogs in garbage bags and tossing out moving car or over bridge. She had convinced them to wait 24 hours before doing so and called everyone she knew. My sister was one of those people and she called ... (Read More)me frantic for advice or help. I immediately got ahold of these people and told them I would come get them. With no plan I got in my car from Burnsville and drove 5 hours to Iowa City to these dogs. When I walked in the house I was overwhelmed at the dirt, the garbage and the oblivious signs of drug using. They had put these 2 beautiful dogs in a small closet with no food or water. The moment I opened the door they wagged their tails and were so excited to see me. They hopped in my car and we drove off with some vague information about them. Mom 5 used to breed pups that were taken away always immed. and never told what for. Daughter 2 used as well once for breeding pups. Both intact, no vaccines. Owner walked out with male dog a couple months ago never leaving any info on what to do with the girls just that he didn't care and wasn't coming back for them. Girls have always been together, and are currently in heat. The entire drive home I called anyone I ever knew trying to find help. I was able to find temp housing for them together. They spent the car ride licking and loving on each other but at the house of my coworker who took them in they growled at each other a couple times and I thought it would be best to separate them in case. I don't know if it is the heat hormones or the trauma of what they've been through. I am working with Jill from Pause from Paws trying desperately to find them fosters and have yet to do so. They are gentle, loving and quite chill. No training so walking them on a leash requires some strength and they def need to be spayed and get some training. Do you know or are you able to provide any help for them? Good with cats, not sure of their background so I haven't brought around other dogs, good with older children but I've never brought them around younger kids. I would totally take them but I live in a townhouse that bans their breed. I have reached out to all pit rescues here in MN and am not getting a lot of help or they are full. Thanks and God bless, Tara (Less)
