Rescue Me ID: 15-05-23-00493Nikko (male)
Need a night in with Netflix or an all- day hike in the woods? Wanna stroll through the park and nap under a tree or take a jog around the block? Looking for a side-by-side snuggle buddy or confident, independent housemate? I'm your dog! Versatile, adaptable, handsome, and fun. My name is Nikko and I'm an active, young, brindle, smaller-size pit bull (currently 36 pounds) who plays and sleeps hard (snoring advisory). I enjoy snuggling on the couch, chasing butterflies, chewing on dog toys, playing in the yard, and walking on or off leash. I sleep all night in my crate and complete all my bathroom business outside. I play well with other medium to large breed dogs, mind my manners around cats, and greet strangers with a tail wag. I'm a quick and happy learner looking for an owner who is familiar with my breed and won't let my leftover puppy behaviors go unaddressed. I can be your partner in crime or a member of the family. Approximately 8 mo-1 year (5/2015) (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-12-00355Belle (female)
Poor sweet Belle. She was found chained in a back yard and left for dead with her 9 puppies, 2 of which had already died from exposure and neglect. After her remaining 5 puppies were adopted out, Belle thought she found her forever home too. Sadly, she was found dumped at a shelter only a few months later in terrible condition, with a horribly painful skin infection, open sores, and missing nearly all her fur. This poor girl has been through so much already in her short little life and just needs a place to call her own. She is a Boston terrier/Pit mix. She is extremely lovey dovey with people and loves to cuddle and give kisses. She tends to be unpredictable with other dogs and should be the only dog in the house. Despite all she's been through, Belle just wants to cuddle and has so much love to give. Please come meet this sweet little girl, you will fall in love instantly! Approximately 2-3 years old (3/2015) Virginia Paws for Pits is a registered 501c3 charity. All of our dogs are pulled form high kill shelters in VA, NC, SC, TN, and GA. Please email us at virginiapawsforpits@gmail. com for more information on any dog or if you'd like to fill out an adoption application for any dog. Adoption fees are as follows: $250 for puppies under 6 months that have not yet been spayed/neutered, $200 for dogs under 1 year that have been altered, $150 for dogs over 1 year, and $100 for dogs that have been in our program for over a year. Adoption fees include spay/neuter (if old enough), all age appropriate vaccines, dewormer (for puppies), and microchip for all dogs. All of our dogs are either in foster homes or local boarding. Please call us at (540) 820-3546 or email us if you'd like to set up a meet with one of our dogs. We have several featured dogs at our Petco adoption events every Saturday from 10-2. Rescueme.org asks us to name a predominate breed. We use visual identification to do this which is not always reliable. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-07-00491Babie (male)
Baby's Info... I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, and good with dogs. Baby's Story... Baby is a 2-3 year old border collie/ boston terrier who was given up by his owner. He is good with other dogs and is house trained. He only weighs 31 pounds. $175.00 adoption donation ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough) , microchipped and vaccinated for rabies (if old enought), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites if needed. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as surgeries and dentals. |Rescue Me ID: 15-02-08-00340Ebony (female)|
Ebony was found as a stray and taken to a rural high-kill shelter in SC. She is about 1 year old and weighs 35 lbs. This girl is just adorable, happy, and loves attention. She loves people and is good other with dogs. Ebony would do best with another high energy dog to be her playmate or someone active who will commit to giving her daily vigorous exercise. She would appreciate the finer things in life-a soft bed, air conditioning, toys of her own, and someone to love. But who could blame her after being stuck in an outdoors shelter for months. We do not know how much training she has received. So she might need training in house manners, leash walking, and basic obedience. Since she was not kept on monthly preventatives, she has tested positive for heartworms. She will receive treatment and will soon be good as new. Ebony will be a great companion for some lucky person or family. Can you provide Ebony with a caring home? If you do, she will reward you with memorable moments and years of love. Please apply to adopt Ebony today. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-25-00219Lenny (male)
Lenny is an adult Boston Terrier. We estimate his age at about 8. He may be younger but we doubt he's older. Lenny is a playful darling. He's amazing with any person no matter their age. He's well trained in many fun ways. He's house trained which is always good. He sit's, stay's, understands No. He sits pretty and shakes paws. Lenny plays catch, and fetch. He is a clown. He's always ready to play but is not hyper. He knows how to settle and loves a good cuddle. Lenny is good with cats that don't run or act like prey. Even then he won't hurt them but they might hurt him. Lenny is crate trained. He's not destructive unless you give him a toy then he's pretty hard on stuffed animals and chews. He loves balls best of all. Lenny is good with other dogs but is an alpha. He's great with dogs in dog parks or on walks, but he will be happiest being the only dog in his house. There are more photos of Lenny on our website and our facebook page. www.odbtr.org (Less)

Boston Terrier Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. Boston Terriers, or Boston Bulls, are small, intelligent dogs. Boston Terriers are gentle and sensitive but can be very playful and rambunctious. Boston Terriers are easy to train since they like to learn and want to please their masters; however, they can be difficult to housebreak. Boston Terriers are exceptionally good with children and the elderly. Boston Terriers do not bark without good reason. Boston Terriers can live in an apartment or in the country, but they are sensitive to extremely hot or cold weather.
